A lake house is made for lingering. Afternoons stretch a little longer, conversations move from the porch to the living room, and eventually everyone finds a comfortable place to settle in. We wanted this room to capture that feeling—a space that feels welcoming from the moment you walk in, but reveals its character slowly through layers of texture, pattern, and collected pieces. The design carries the relaxed sensibility of the rest of the house, pairing classic architecture with warm, natural materials and a palette drawn from the landscape outside. Woven textures, soft upholstery, warm wood, and thoughtfully chosen pieces keep the room feeling comfortable rather than overly finished. The result is timeless without feeling formal, and collected without feeling overly styled. More than anything, the living room was designed for the in-between moments—reading after a morning on the water, playing games when the weather turns, gathering around a fire on a cool evening, or simply staying on the sofa long after dinner is over. A room with room to linger, in a home designed to make staying awhile feel easy.

There’s something special about a lake house kitchen. It’s where the doors stay open all summer, sandy feet wander in from the water, and long afternoons naturally turn into dinners that linger well into the evening. In the cooler months, it becomes a place to hunker down, gather around the table, and settle into the slower pace of lake life. For this kitchen, we wanted the design to feel classic, collected, and effortlessly comfortable—a space that feels just as inviting years from now as it does on the day it’s finished. Traditional shiplap architecture creates a timeless backdrop, while warm hardwood floors, soft blue and white hues, and natural woven textures bring in the easy spirit of the water just beyond the windows. The selections are intentionally unfussy: handmade ceramics, aged metals, woven furniture, warm wood, and pieces that feel as though they could have been collected over time. A soft blue range adds a quiet touch of color, while the mix of natural materials keeps the kitchen from feeling too polished or precious. Most importantly, this is a kitchen designed for living. For morning coffee overlooking the lake, meals shared around the table, a stack of dishes waiting after dinner, and friends and family gathering long after the food is gone. It’s a space made for summer days by the water and cozy winter nights inside—a kitchen meant not just to be beautiful, but to become part of the memories made here.
